This client in Kensal Rise, NW London, required lots of storage space. We integrated the master bedroom into a newly built loft, creating new space for windows in the process in order to maximise light and to invite a feeling of calm. The bespoke hand painted wardrobe with brass details creates a warm, clutter-free space. In the bathroom, the handmade arabesque-shaped ‘zellige’ tiles create an organic look and echo the hues of the wardrobe, while the micro-cement floor offers a clean, continues design. In contrast, the hallway leading up to the bedroom is dark and dramatic thanks to the gold and blue wallpaper. Just before entering the bedroom through a space-saving sliding door, a shelve invites you to grab a book for bedtime. All soft furnishings sourced for this project, from the rugs through to the cactus silk bed pillows, are made from natural fibres. Meanwhile the warm, brass line running along the wardrobe is reflected in the vintage Italian ceiling lights.
